Associate Professor Claudia Di Bella

A/Prof Claudia Di Bella completed her orthopaedic training in 2007 at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute (Bologna, Italy), which has been named in the top 5 orthopaedic hospitals worldwide. Claudia moved to Melbourne in 2010, she completed her PhD in 2012 in oncology and experimental pathology. In 2014 she obtained the Fellowship in orthopaedic surgery by the Royal Australasian Collage of Surgeons (FRACS) and is a Director on the board of Australasian Orthopaedic Association/ Research Foundation and is a Director of ANZSA education. 

A/Prof Di Bella is passionate about enhancing the patient experience and has a special interest in bone and soft tissue tumours (sarcomas). Claudia was the first surgeon in Melbourne to perform a pelvic resection and reconstruction with 3D printed custom- made prosthesis and is a pioneer in Australia for the use of the most advanced technologies in orthopaedic surgery, including 3D printing and robotically assisted surgery. 

A/Prof Di Bella is an expert in lower limb joint replacement surgery, which she performs using the most advanced technologies. Claudia highly specialised in hip and Knee replacement surgery which is performed “Direct Anterior Approach” and is actively involved in teaching this procedure to other surgeons. 

Her philosophy is simple, Claudia is a strong believer in open communication and teamwork. You can always reply on her availability to answer all your questions, as her priority is to find a treatment that works well for you in a holistic way.
